Ballybrack-Killiney Pilgrimage to the Holy Land

Friday 05 – Saturday 13 May 2023
We will begin our Pilgrimage in Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee from where you will visit Cana, Mount Tabor, Magdala, Caphernaum and Nazareth. A drive through the Jordan Valley will take us to the Baptismal site of Jesus, and to Jerusalem where you will visit the Old City and all the main sacred places, with an afternoon off to explore the Holy City at leisure. We will visit Bethlehem where you will have an opportunity to visit the Church of the Nativity and see the Shepherds Fields, and we will end our pilgrimage with Mass at Emmaus where the disciples recognised Jesus at the breaking of the bread.

Friday 05th of May
Depart Dublin for Tel Aviv. On arrival meet and greet at the airport and transfer to Tiberias for overnight.
Saturday 06th of May
Commence with an unforgettable boat trip on Sea of Galilee followed by a visit to Magdala the ancient city on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. Mass in the Magdala church and see the newly returned Preaching Stone from the synagogue. We will also visit the 1st Century boat nearby. Afterwards drive to Cana of Galilee – site of the first miracle at the wedding feast. Renewal of Marriage Vows in the Main church. Return to Tiberias for dinner and overnight.
Sunday 07th of May
Breakfast at hotel. Today visit Capernaum, see the house of St. Peter and the Synagogue. Continue to the Church of the Primacy of St. Peter known as Mensa Christi and then to Tabgha – the site of the Miracle of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fish. Mass in this church or outdoors. Visit the Mount of Beatitudes – Site of the Sermon of the Mount. Return to Tiberias for dinner and overnight.
Monday 08th May
Breakfast at hotel. Check out and drive to Nazareth. See the Brow of the hill where Jesus was to be thrown down. Visit the Basilica of the Annunciation. Mass here. See the Grotto (place of Annunciation), the home of the Holy Family, and St. Joseph’s workshop, the synagogue, and Mary’s Well. Drive to Mount Tabor, scene of the Transfiguration and ascend the mountain by taxi. Check into hotel for dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
Tuesday 09th May
Breakfast at hotel. Drive to the Jordan River Baptismal site, Yasar Al-Yahud for Renewal of Baptismal Vows. On arrival in Jerusalem, enjoy the panoramic view of old and new Jerusalem. Visit The Pater Noster Church, and Dominus Flevit. Mass in Dominus Flevit church. Afterwards visit the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
Wednesday 10th May
An easy day. After breakfast, Visit Ein Karem, the Church of the Visitation, for Mass.
Return to Jerusalem for lunch at leisure. Free afternoon in Jerusalem, collected by bus in the evening for dinner at hotel and overnight in Jerusalem.
Thursday 11th May
Breakfast at hotel. Drive to St. Stephen’s Gate. Enter the Old City. Visit the Church of St. Ann and Pool of Bethesda. Proceed to the Chapel of Flagellation for Mass. Continue to Ecce Homo, Lithostrotos for Mass (Sisters of Zion). Walk along the Via Dolorosa, the way of the Cross. Visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Walk through the Jewish Quarter and the Cardo to the Temple Area for lunch. See the Western Wall. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.
Friday 12th May
Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Bethlehem (10 km). Visit the Church of the Nativity, the site of the Nativity, Manger Square, the Grotto of St. Jerome, & Milk Grotto. Visit the Shepherd’s Fields. Meet with the Christian community in Bethlehem for shopping. Drive to Abu Gosh Emmaus site for our Final Mass in Church of the Ark of the Covenant in the afternoon.
Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.
Saturday 13th May
Breakfast at hotel. Depart to Tel Aviv Airport for our return flight home to Dublin.
