Itinerary / Flight Details

Day 1: Dublin to Budapest (Embarkation) Direct flight from Dublin to Budapest, where you will be transferred to the 5-star MS Geoffrey Chaucer. Meet your Riviera Cruise Director, settle into your Emerald Deck cabin, and enjoy an evening welcome dinner as you begin your voyage.

Day 2: Esztergom, Hungary Cruise upstream to Esztergom, one of Hungary’s oldest towns and royal capitals. Enjoy a guided tour of its magnificent neoclassical basilica—standing sentinel on the Slovakian border—housing priceless religious artifacts. Spend the afternoon relaxing on board as you cruise toward Slovakia.

Day 3: Bratislava, Slovakia Explore Slovakia’s fast-emerging capital, Bratislava, on a guided walking tour. Discover the beautifully restored Old Town, St. Martin’s Cathedral (former coronation site), the historic Opera House, and whimsical bronze street statues. In the afternoon, cruise into Lower Austria.

Day 4: Dürnstein & The Wachau Valley Arrive in picturesque Dürnstein, nestled in the heart of the wine-producing Wachau Valley. Enjoy free time to stroll past medieval architecture and cobblestone lanes framed by terraced vineyards.

Day 5: Melk Abbey & Salzburg (Optional Excursion) Visit the magnificent Benedictine Abbey at Melk, an architectural masterpiece perched high above the river. Alternatively, take an optional full-day excursion to Mozart’s historic birthplace, Salzburg.

Day 6: Vienna, City of Music Arrive in imperial Vienna. Enjoy an expert-guided tour of the city’s grand Ringstraße boulevard, magnificent palaces, and historic squares. Spend the afternoon exploring the city’s legendary coffee house culture or visiting Schönbrunn Palace.

Day 7: Budapest City Tour Return to Budapest for a comprehensive guided tour covering both Buda and Pest sides of the river, including the iconic Fishermen’s Bastion and Parliament buildings. In the evening, the Captain hosts a special farewell gala dinner.

Day 8: Disembarkation & Return Flight to Dublin Enjoy a final breakfast on board before disembarking your ship for your transfer to the airport and direct return flight to Dublin.
